While in Japan...

While in Japan, I had the chance to catch up on some adult novels. Now back home, I find myself wanting to read some Japanese novels. Battle Royale by Koshun Takami a book on reality shows gone bad. Now Japan has some crazy reality shows, but "The Program" is very extreme. Every year a ninth grade class is randomly selected to be the contestants of "The Program," a reality show that requires the students to battle to the death. Only one person can be alive after three days, or else they all are killed. This Japanese best selling action novel is a definite page turner.

After the violent, senseless action from that novel, a reader may need to move on to a softer one. A brand new title--just released and will be on order for the library at the end of the month is Socrates in Love by Kyoichi Katayama. This sweet high school romance is about an average guy and the beautiful girl who falls in love with him. Look for it at the library in both manga form and a hardback novel at the beginning of November.
