Diana Wynne Jones

We've had another icon in children's literature pass away. British novelist, Diana Wynne Jones wrote fantasy novels for tween/teen readers. Her books are rich with detail and fantastical elements. Teens will most likely enjoy the following titles best: Fire and Hemlock This fantasy is a retelling of the Tam Lin tale with some twists. The Dark Lord of Derkholm Considered a send up to sword and sorcery style high fantasy, this is full of adventure! But her best known work is probably Howl's Moving Castle. Most likely due to the wonderful movie adaptation by Hayao Miyazaki. There are definitely differences from the book and the movie, but I think re-reading this title will be a perfect way to say goodbye to a literary legend. Here is Neil Gaiman's very touching post about his friend, Diana.
